Prof. Gianluca Brunori is full professor of Food Policy at Pisa University, department of Agriculture, Food and Environment. His research activities focus on the link between food and rural development and on sustainable food systems.
He is past president of the ISA Research Committee 40 “Sociology of food and agriculture”, and vice-president of the European Society of Rural Sociology. He has been editor in chief of the journal Rivista di Economia Agraria, and member of the editorial board of the journal Sociologia Ruralis. He is now in the editorial board of the journal Agriculture and Food Economics.
Gianluca Brunori has been scientific coordinator of the EU research projects “Transforming rural communication (TRUC)” and “Global and Local food chains: a Multidimensional assessment” GLAMUR, and has participated as leader of local research team to more than 20 EU projects.
In 2008 he has coordinated a SCAR expert group for the second SCAR foresight exercise focused on climate change, energy, food, rural development, and knowledge systems. His specific contribution has been focused on food and rural development, and has been member of the expert group for the third SCAR foresight exercise on agricultural research.
